Blooloop: Lost Shtetl Museum Opens in Lithuania, Featuring Multisensory Experience Design by RAA and Made Music Studio
Sound has the power to tell stories of all kinds, making audiences feel something. Combining breathtaking architecture, visuals and sonic design, the Lost Shtetl Museum invites visitors to step into a lost community.
We were proud to partner with the global design leaders at Ralph Appelbaum Associates (RAA) to complete their vision for the Lost Shtetl Museum in Šeduva, Lithuania. The museum's multisensory storytelling is designed to preserve the memory of the Jewish shtetls, with a focus on light and community.
Blooloop shared the news of the museum’s opening in an article featuring RAA, Made Music Studio and Dot Crew. MMS Founder Joel Beckerman described why this experience design collaboration was so powerful:
It means so much to celebrate the shtetl community and its people in the face of atrocity — to remember them as they were in a most intimate and personal way. Through this combination of visuals and sound, guests will connect more deeply not just with the museum experience, but with the lives and voices that once echoed through this vibrant community.”
Made Music Studio supported the design across the Lost Shtetl Museum through immersive sound design, which included:
- Surround soundscapes for various areas of the museum, custom-designed and curated to bring exhibits to life through period-and-geographically-accurate sound design
- On-site mixing of audio elements to optimize the listening experience for each space
- Advisement and guidance on audio playback systems and infrastructure to maximize the multisensory experience
